Austin Ekeler wore No. 30 with the Chargers and could usurp that number from defensive back Troy Apke next season, and that led BMitch to come out with an EPIC quip Tuesday:
“I can say finally they got somebody that can wear No. 30 and I won’t be pissed at,” he snarked. “It’s been over 20 years, and I’m finally happy with No. 30! He can run the ball, he’s strong as hell, and he’s very effective catching the ball out of the backfield.”
Landry, the most successful of the group, was here from 2007-11, so yeah, it’s been a decade plus of D.J. Johnson, Crezdon Butler, E.J. Biggers, Kyshoen Jarrett, David Bruton, and Apke – and between Mitchell and Landry it was seven years of Trung Canidate, Dahrran Diedrick, and Nehemiah Broughton.
No offense to any of them, but Ekeler was undrafted and has twice led the NFL in TD in his career, so, yeah, easy to see BMitch loving a smaller but productive back!
