With the Commanders likely coming under new ownership in the future, could the franchise undergo yet another rebrand?

Washington changed its name and identity to the Commanders last year, after changing it from the Redskins to the Washington Football Team in 2020. Should Dan Snyder agree to sell the team, and the new ownership group elected to go with a different name and brand, it would be the third change in three years.

It is a drastic idea that team president Jason Wright seems confident will not happen, regardless of who eventually buys the team.

Wright told The Washington Times that no ownership group that has expressed interest in buying the team has made any indication that they would want to be rid of the Commanders, citing a desire for consistency and to keep growing the brand, while focusing more on putting a winning team on the field.

So, fans who bought their Commanders merchandise this past season can keep them in circulation.
