Robert Griffin III tweeted on Monday that the Commanders offense is the “most dynamic” it has been in the last decade, a timeframe that began right when the former Washington quarterback led the team to one of its most memorable seasons of the 21st century.
Is JP Finlay crazy for thinking that Griffin is planting a seed for a Commanders comeback by putting the pressure on their current starting quarterback?
“Does this feel a little bit like, ‘Hey, there’s so much talent here, Carson Wentz should be awesome’?” Finlay pondered during Tuesday’s show. “It’s kind of putting the pressure on Wentz, in case he doesn’t play great, ‘Hey guys, I’m still available.’ Am I crazy?”
B-Mitch quickly said that, yes, his co-host was talking crazy.
“Yeah,” B-Mitch said. “I think his playing days are over.”
Finlay clarified that he also doesn’t think an RGIII comeback is possible, but maybe RGIII himself doesn’t agree.
“I do too,” Finlay said. “But I’m not sure if he does.”
Griffin last played in 2020 making just one start over four games and throwing just 14 passes. So a comeback seems very farfetched, even if Wentz flops in Washington, as Taylor Heinicke would likely take over. But who knows what RGIII believes in terms of his capability at this stage of his life.
