The Commanders indeed went receiver with their lone Day 2 pick, selecting Clemson wideout Antonio Williams at No. 71 overall.

Williams played 42 games in four seasons with the Tigers, earning First Team All-ACC honors in 2024 and Third Team in 2025. Hos junior season was his best, as he had 75 catches for 904 yards and 11 TD receiving, notched 101 rushing yards and one score on the ground, and averaged 9.6 yards per return on 17 kick returns.

Last season, he slipped to 55-604-4 with 78 yards and 1 TD on the ground, and just four kick returns.

Williams could potentially help on that front, where Luke McCaffrey ended up as the main return man after Austin Ekeler’s injury, or as a potential slot receiver.

From NFL.com’s Draft & Scouting Combine profiles:

Williams is a bona fide ball player with good size and an ability to make mischief when he totes the pigskin. There is freestyling inside his routes that create uncertainty for corners but teams might drill down on attention to detail and better efficiency to keep him on schedule. He’s not a field-stretcher but he plays fast from snap to whistle and has the ball skills to bring in challenging catches. He’s more slippery than explosive with outstanding run-after-catch ability. Williams projects as a productive slot receiver with legitimate run/pass/catch talent that should appeal to creative play-callers.
