Another Commanders addition, this one not a lineman OR an ex-Cowboy: per Adam Schefter, confirmed with the agent, Washington is signing former Panthers LB Frankie Luvu to a three-year deal worth a maximum of $36 million.

Luvu, 27, was originally an undrafted free agent signing of the Jets in 2018, and came into his own in Carolina as perhaps the ultimate example of Dan Quinn’s ‘find out what they do well and maximize it’ mantra. Luvu was the middle linebacker and played a lot of MIKE with the Panthers, but has 12.5 sacks over the last two years and had 125 tackles in 2023, so he can rush the QB as well as play in both pass and run defense.

He also had an 80.0 PFF overall grade, including 90.1 on pass rush, and his 81.6 overall grade since 2021 is the sixth-highest among linebackers.
