In an unexpected twist, the Commanders have listed quarterback Jacoby Brissett as questionable for Sunday’s game against the 49ers after being limited in Friday’s practice due to a hamstring injury.

Grant and Danny can’t help but laugh at the painful irony of Washington potentially having to turn back to Sam Howell after being benched in favor of Brissett just days ago.

“If Jacoby Brissett can’t play, Sam Howell with have the chance to do the funniest thing that’s ever happened,” Grant said. “Which is ball out, and after the game, say ‘Yeah, they didn’t believe in me, but I knew what I was capable of.’

“How many years in a row can you have a controversy in the waning weeks on which quarterback is gonna play and who actually does? This can be hysterical.”

Grant has heard that the questionable label on Brissett for Sunday is “legitimate,” and the quarterback will have to test that hamstring out on Sunday to determine his status. Regardless, it is another quarterback twist down the stretch of a Commanders season that could leave Ron Rivera voicing confidence in Howell, a quarterback he benched last week.

“That is so humiliating, to have to go back to the podium, potentially,” Grant said. “It’s crazy.”
