Is Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, one of the world's richest billionaires, inching closer towards making a bid to purchase the Washington Commanders?
It certainly seems as though he's ramping up his public posturing.
In an interview with CNN over the weekend, Bezos was asked if the speculation was true about him having interest in purchasing the Commanders.
"Yes, I've heard that buzz," Bezos said.
Lauren Sanchez, Bezos' partner, chimed in with a laugh, according to CNN. "I do like football," she said. "I'm just going to throw that out there for everyone."
"I grew up in Houston, Texas, and I played football growing up as a kid," Bezos added, "and it is my favorite sport... so we'll just have to wait and see."
PEOPLE magazine previously reported this month that Bezos, who has long had interest in buying into the NFL, was intrigued by the idea of purchasing the Commanders and that he was even considering putting together a bid with Jay-Z.
It was later reported that Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey, a lifelong Commanders/Redskins fan, was interested in joining their bid.
