The Rooster was crowing about the Commanders’ activity on Day 1 of NFL Free Agency negotiations…but not in his usual pop-ins to BMitch & Finlay’s studio bfore going on air, as this time he joined The Junkies on the BetQL hotline!
You can listen to the whole thing above, and tune in to hear Chris from 1-4 p.m. on The Team 980, but here’s his choice for his favorite signing of Monday:
“Frankie Luvu, because he's a really, really good pass rusher from an off the ball inside linebacker perspective,” Russell said. “I think he'll ultimately play MIKE here, but I don't know that, because he can also play edge and outside, but they can use him in a couple of different ways.
He's really good getting downhill at the quarterback, obviously good at blowing up some run plays based on what I've seen, and also really good in coverage. I don't know how he'll translate to this scheme and this system, but he is about as all around good of a linebacker in all of those three key components as you can possibly ask for.”
Rooster thought maybe Bobby Wagner might be a play given his past with Dan Quinn, and still may be, but Luvu is a piece they can move all over the field and ‘they got him at a pretty good price,” and he also said Tyler Biadasz, his second-favorite of the group, was described by someone in Dallas as “a pretty big deal for the Cowboys to lose.”
Take a listen to it all above!
