Howard Eskin of sibling station WIP sent out a Tweet this week asking if anyone in sports likes or respects Josh Harris, and so the Junkies had Howard come on to ask what that’s all about…and it seems there is no number one reason to single out, because they’re all bad.
“There is no No. 1 reason, they’re all number ones – but he’s clueless when it comes to sports, he’s an absentee owner, and his passion is to make money, not to win,” Eskin said. “There’s nothing wrong with that, but when you own teams, rival teams, it’s about making money. If I asked him how far the foul line is from the basket, he’d have to think about it. He’s not a sports fan, he’s a money fan.”
There’s another reason, Eskin says, why the fans in Philly don’t like him.
“They realize he’s not for them and not there to win – he’s there to raise ticket prices,” Howard said. “The Sixers tried to lose the first four years he was here, and they raised ticket prices EVERY YEAR while everyone knew they were trying to lose. They did that every year until the NBA forced the GM out, then he hired a clown and a fraud in Daryl Morey, who has no idea what he’s doing but is a great con man, and he’s just not a guy who will win in basketball. Football is a whole different element, and I’m sure you’re excited because anyone is better than Dan Snyder, but get ready – this guy is going to raise ticket prices, because that’s what he does.”
That led to an argument about how all owners raise ticket prices, but then Eskin doubled down about Harris being a phony.
“Every place he goes to, that’s his home,” Eskin said. “DC is his home, he’s from Silver Spring. He says Philly’s his home, he went to Penn for a year – but he’s never here, he lives in Florida. He said he was at the Redskins parades…I want proof!”
The Junks still think he’s “more than just the +1 to Dan Snyder’s zero,” but you can take a listen to the entire convo above, which also includes thoughts on Harris asking Joel Embiid being an ambassador for the Commanders due to the Eagles-Commanders rivalry and more!
