So the Ron Rivera era is officially over and Josh Harris has put together a committee to lead the search for a president of football operations and a head coach.

Great…so now what?

“I like the idea of a super team of guys trying to figure out the next step, instead of like the owner and one of his cronies. I think this process is going to be better and more professional, and attract better candidates,” Cakes said. “These guys have impressive credentials and resumes.”

“If they’re going to hire someone from one of these playoff teams, I think we’re going to have to settle in, because it could take a while,” EB said. “There’s a million hoops you have to go through, that Nicki Jhabvala outlined last week.”

The interesting thing, at least to JP, is how the draft strategy is built based on the braintrust.

“In the NBA, a lot of the rebuilding teams like to stock up on picks, and we did see that with the trades of Montez Sweat and Chase Young,” JP said. “With the second pick, I think you should go QB, but maybe you could trade down – Michael Penix has looked good, and maybe your staff likes him and thinks you can get him at 12, so you trade down just a few picks and stock up on picks?”

“It depends on who they bring in, and which players they really like,” Bish replied, which led to a discussion of the quarterbacks that will be available in the first round.

Later in the show, just prior to him going on the air after the Junks on The Team 980, Kevin Sheehan jumped in with the guys and offered this take:

“This isn’t Dan (Snyder) and Vinny (Cerrato) interviewing Fassel and then hiring Jim Zorn as a coordinator and then he’s a head coach; these are real people with real experience, and one of the best basketball heads in recent history,” Kevin said. “It’s one of these things where you know this is the first step, this group, to tell them where they should go and what to hire first. And, will one of these two, if not both of Myers and Spielman, become so ingrained in the process that Harris just turns to them to become full-time employees? The bottom line is Harris isn’t going out and putting his own list together, which is good news.”
