A lawyer for late Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins has filed a lawsuit a year after his death, claiming he was drugged in a blackmail conspiracy.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport released a statement from attorney Rick Ellsley that explains the reason for the lawsuit.

In the release, Ellsley says “It is believed that Dwayne as targeted and drugged as part of a blackmail and robbery conspiracy,” adding that a “highly-expensive” watch was stolen from him before he died.

A toxicology report showed Haskins also tested positive for ketamine and norketamine.

Ellsley says the dump truck that killed him was going over the speed limit, had brake problem, was traveling on bad tires and more.

He also goes on to say that several other vehicles avoided Haskins before the truck ultimately hit and killed him.

The release reads in part:

“Many questions remain as to why the truck driver did not avoid hitting Dwayne given the highly visible activity in the area before the impact and the fact that the other drivers did not hit Dwayne. The truck driver’s cell phone records have not yet been disclosed. The report also notes that the driver refused to provide a blood sample to the police at the scene and still has not provided test results.:

The attorney is asking anyone with information on the matter to email him at info@ellsleylaw.com

Haskins was hit by a dump truck and killed early on Sunday morning, April 9, 2022, while crossing Interstate I-595 in South Florida.
