On a K9 Tuesday in for Brian & JP, Doc and Lynnell broke out the dogs on this topic: Ron Rivera said Monday that “we think we’ve found a young quarterback who has given us an opportunity,” and while he “hears the frustration,” they are “trying to develop a young football team for the future” and “do the best we can to win games.”
Lynnell had a simple two-word take on that: Yeah, no.
“This is where I differentiate with Ron: I don’t think he understands the frustration of the franchise,” Lynnell said of that clip. “I honestly feel like he comes across so tone-deaf at the podium, that I wonder if they’re being serious or facetious. To get up here, after a Week 7 loss in year four, and try to talk about developing and growing a young team? WHO CARES! The development phase is over – crap or get off the pot! I’m so sick and tired of this excuse making.”
Lynnell invoked Danny’s thought from Monday about Sam Howell’s chance only coming so he could be a fallback plan for failure, so talking about moral victories and development is a shallow excuse.
“You weren’t competitive Sunday, Ron,” Lynnell said. “It’s a joke, I’m so frustrated of hearing it.”
“I think Danny was on point, as always, but I don’t blame Ron for anything because you’ve accepted it,” Doc replied. “He is smart enough to give you what you want. I don’t care what any of them say, I judge them by what they do and produce, and that’s unacceptable by my standards. I see what I need to see on game day, and if that’s good enough for the guys that pay them, then I’m good. They finally now have a boss, and if the boss is good with it, I’m good with it.”
