News broke earlier Tuesday that a group led by Sixers and Devils owner Josh Harris had submitted a $6 billion offer to buy the Washington Commanders – and now, we have another official entrant.
Steve Apostolopoulos, a Canadian billionaire who had previously toured the team's facility, has also submitted a "fully-funded $6 billion offer" for the Washington Commanders, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter.
Apostolopoulos had reportedly expressed interest earlier this year in purchasing the NBA's Charlotte Hornets after Michael Jordan had been rumored to be open to selling the franchise, but ESPN reported later that he is "focused on the opportunity to purchase the Commanders."
That apparently came to fruition on Tuesday, as his became the second full-price bid for the Commanders to be reported within 24 hours.
Apostolopoulos is a Harvard alum who founded the private equity venture fund Six Ventures Inc., and his family’s net worth is estimated at nearly $4 billion.
