Solomon Wilcots played six seasons in the NFL and broadcasted 25 more with “Redskins” as the name of the football team in Washington, so you can forgive him for dropping that name in a conversation with Grant & Danny Tuesday.

GP joked that he had to put a dollar in the jar, as if it were a swear word…and while that may not be the case, hoo, boy, does Wilcots think the current name should be.

“Everyone knows they should change that name, by the way,” WIlcots said, and when Grant snarked ‘that name doesn’t work for you?’ all WIlcots could deadpan was, ‘No.”

“I have $16,000 in the jar,” Danny joked to lighten the mood, but, yeah: Wilcots needs another rebrand, and now.

“Is it good for you?” Wilcots said, agreeing when Grant said that ‘that line wraps around the block. “We all are almost unanimous on that! That’s a crowded bus.”

And when Grant pointed out something that may or may not be a thing, that Josh Harris says “Washington Football” and not Commanders most of the time?

“Smart man! I love Washington Football Team as a name,” Wilcots said. “That was better than THIS thing.”

“The problem I had with it was that when Danny and I would talk, what are you? You’re a Redskin or a Commander, so what are you, a footballer?” Grant shot back.

Makes sense, but there are better names than Commanders at least.

“You need an iconic character, you need a cartoon or something,” Wilcots laughed. “Why couldn't they be the Red Hawks or something? Give me a ‘red’ in front of something that allows me to at least hold on to some tradition. Why they gotta take everything away from us?”
