Why Emmanuel Acho believes Carson Wentz will 'complete his career resurrection' in D.C.

It doesn't take a long search to find someone dunking on the Washington Commanders for trading for Carson Wentz.

The quarterback is now on his third team in as many years, with two teams — the Eagles and now the Colts — having decided to move on from him. It's not the best look for someone who's been known to struggle with confidence, playing a position that's often defined by one's confidence.

But Fox Sports 1's Emmanuel Acho has a different view. He sees a quarterback on the rise, someone finally getting the opportunity he's needed at 29 years old and is now entering the perfect situation to "complete his career resurrection."

Here's what Acho told FS1 co-host Marcellus Wiley about the trade on Wednesday:

"Carson Wentz will complete his career resurrection in Washington," Acho began. "The first thing I've just got to pose to everybody, which I'll pose to myself, is name a top quarterback without a number one receiver. Tom Brady was top... Mike Evans; Aaron Rodgers was... oh, Davante Adams; Josh Allen was... oh, Stefon Diggs; Matthew Stafford was... oh, Cooper Kupp!"

"Name a top-flight quarterback without a top-flight receiver," he said. "You can't! So when you look at Carson Wentz and you're like, 'Carson Wentz ain't been good in ages, Acho!' Well Michael Pittman's not a number one receiver.

"Carson Wentz's four years as the primary starter in Philadelphia, his number one receiver wasn't a receiver! It was a tight end, Zach Ertz! So now you're going to give Carson Wentz 'Scary' Terry McLaurin, the only receiver in the NFC East that has over 1,000 yards the last two years."

"I do think Carson Wentz will complete his resurgence," Acho said. "Because you can't name a quarterback — a top-flight quarterback — without a top-flight receiver. And Carson Wentz, for the first time, the first time in his career, will have a true number one receiver in their prime."
