This was a bad miss by Washington Football Team tight end Jeremy Sprinkle.
Early on Monday, the Washington offense was struggling to get anything going against the tough Pittsburgh Steelers defense. And dynamic running back Antonio Gibson sustained a toe injury which is likely to keep him out for the game.
Ron Rivera needed his special teams unit to make a play. And they had the opportunity to capitalize.
After Steelers returner Ray-Ray MccLoud called for a fair catch, Washington’s Danny Johnson made contact with MccLoud, who muffed the punt.
There was no flag for the contact, but also no recovery by Sprinkle.
A huge, huge missed opportunity for Washington. The Steelers would go on to score the game’s opening touchdown on that drive covering 72 yards on 14 plays.
I can't believe that I can't believe they didn't recover that fumble.
