Former Washington Football star Ryan Kerrigan confirmed on Grant & Danny his time in the nation's capital has come to an end and he is in fact joining the Philadelphia Eagles.

"It's been a hell of a ride," Kerrigan said Wednesday afternoon.

Kerrigan reminisced on his ten seasons in Washington, discussing how much he enjoyed being a part of the DMV.

"For things to work out the way they have is unbelievable," Kerrigan told 106.7 The Fan. "I feel so incredible lucky to have had the productivity there, but not only that, but to get drafted to a place I really loved living in. That's the best part. Some guys get drafted to a place and they're there for five or six months of the season and then they're bolting out the first Monday of the offseason.

"I've genuinely loved living in the DMV and I think that's what made it so special for me being drafted there and having success on the football field was that I felt a genuine connection with the place because I loved living there."

Kerrigan's role was significantly reduced last season with the addition of No. 2 overall pick Chase Young joining Washington's defense. He started just one game during the 2020 season despite playing in all 16 contests and recording 5.5 sacks.

"Last year I felt like I performed well, obviously a different kind of role for me than I was used to," Kerrigan said.

The former Purdue star said that he knew from the start of free agency he wouldn't be back in Burgundy and Gold.

"Coach Rivera and Mr. Snyder called me right at the start of free agency and just kind of let me know that they weren't gonna be trying to re-sign me and that they were gonna try and go in a different direction," Kerrigan announced.

Kerrigan, who leaves DC as the franchise's all-time leader in quarterback sacks, will be back in the nation's capital during Week 17 when the Eagles come to town.
