Watch: McLaurin’s postgame speech has Washington locker room pumped

The future is bright and it belongs to wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

While McLaurin is only in his second NFL season, it is clear he is ready to be a leader in the Washington Football Team locker room.

As head coach Ron Rivera was finishing his postgame speech after a 25-3 win over the Dallas Cowboys, he asked the room if anybody had anything to ask and McLaurin, a third-round pick in 2019, spoke up.

“I know I’m still a young guy,” McLaurin began. “But the way we came out this week, it was better than last week, I thought we deserved to win last week, the way we came out and practiced. That was complimentary football - from the offense, to the defense, to the special teams.

“Feel this. Enjoy this s--- right now, because that’s what we can build on. Now we right in the thick of it,” he continues.

“So we can take this week off, take care of yourself, take care of each other, take care of your bodies, man, because we right in the middle of everything that we want. I just had to say that then and let’s come back even stronger after this bye week.”

While the words may not sound like much, the response from the players in the locker room is the best sign: Loud cheers and enthusiasm.

McLaurin finished with a game-high 90 receiving yards on seven catches, including a 52-yard TD catch in the first half.
