WFT safety Deshazor Everett involved in fatal crash in Loudoun County

Washington Football Team safety Deshazor Everett was the driver in a crash that killed a female passenger in Loudoun County on Thursday night, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Everett was driving a 2010 Nissan GT-R, traveling north on Gum Spring Road when, around 9:15 p.m., his car veered off the road and struck several trees before rolling over, according to a release from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. The passenger, identified as 29-year-old Olivia S. Peters of Las Vegas, NV, was taken to a nearby hospital where she died of her injuries.

Everett was taken to Reston Hospital Center where he's being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

In a statement released Friday morning, the Washington Football Team said: "We've been made aware of an automobile accident last night involving Deshazor Everett. A passenger in his vehicle lost their life and we extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends who lost a loved one. Deshazor is currently in the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by this tragedy."

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. Washington says it has alerted league officials of the crash and is working with local authorities to help gather more information.

"We will have no further comment at this time," the team says.

Everett, 29, is in his seventh NFL season with Washington since going undrafted out of Texas A&M in 2015.
