The Wizards have traded Marcin Gortat to the LA Clippers for Austin Rivers, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld announced the deal late Tuesday evening.

"Acquiring Austin gives us another versatile, experienced player who provides scoring and playmaking," said Grunfeld. "He is coming off a career year and his ability to create offense for himself and others will help our second unit and allow us to play a variety of lineups throughout the season."

Swapping expiring contracts, the Clippers receive the final year and $13.56 million on Gortat's five-year contract, and the Wizards take on one season of Rivers for $12.65 million.

Rivers, 27, becomes the first player in NBA history to be traded by his father, Clippers head coach Doc Rivers.

Gortat, 34, had become a malcontent in the Wizards locker room and, during the regular season, began openly taunting teammate John Wall as he rehabbed from injury.

Unbelievable win tonight ! Great "team" victory!

Only days ago, Gortat believed with a near absolute certainty he would be traded this summer.

Gortat says he's 99% sure he'll get traded soon. "The decision has been made by the front office." Says he's anticipating a move to the Western Conference within a couple of days. #DCFamily #Wizards https://t.co/AyuslB52Ie

"We appreciate Marcin's contributions during his time with us and wish him the best moving forward," Grunfeld said. "He is a very durable professional who helped the team in many ways to become a perennial playoff contender and set an example with his work in the community both in D.C. and in his native country of Poland."
