Back in 1999, a brewery, a couple of sailors, and an argument started a Milwaukee tradition called Louie's Last Regatta. A sailing event to close out the season and raise money for Children's Wisconsin. It began with twenty-nine boats, and it is now the longest continuously running charity regatta on the Great Lakes. Louie's has raised more than one-point-seven-nine million dollars, all of it with the help of the sailing community and greater Milwaukee.
Do not have a boat? No problem. Everyone is welcome at the onshore party. Food, drinks, a rum pour, the bucket drawing, and more, all to raise money for Children's Wisconsin. Come out to South Shore Yacht Club in Bay View, September twenty-sixth. Race starts at high noon. The party starts at three.
