National League Rookie of the Year candidate Michael Harris II and the Atlanta Braves "are deep in discussions on an eight-year contract extension," Robert Murray of FanSided reports.

Audacy Sports MLB Insider Jon Heyman says that the deal would pay Harris $72 million over the eight seasons, with the potential for an additional option year or two.

If the deal is completed, it would mark yet another team-friendly contract that general manager Alex Anthopoulos has signed a star player to, joining Ronald Acuña Jr., Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley and Matt Olson.

Harris, 21, is slashing .292/.330/.508 with 12 home runs, 39 RBIs, five defensive runs saved and five outs above average in 2022.
