Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills have placed quarterback Shane Buechele and wide receiver Chase Claypool on Injured Reserve, the team announced on Tuesday.
By being placed on Injured Reserve now, both players are ineligible to return and play for the Bills as a “designated to return.”
However, the team can work out an injury settlement within the next seven days with either player. If that happens, they would be released with that settlement and eventually able to re-sign with the Bills for whatever amount of weeks that settlement is, plus an additional three weeks. The amount of weeks of the settlement is not made public.
In that scenario, once a settlement is reached, the player would become a free agent and could sign with another team at any time.
The Bills also announced the signing of three players on Tuesday: Wide receivers Damiere Byrd and Deon Cain, as well as quarterback Ben DiNucci.
On the field on Tuesday, practicing at One Bills Drive, linebacker Matt Milano left positional drills early with an apparent arm injury. He was looked at by trainers and eventually stayed on the sidelines, but did not take another rep the rest of the session.
Additionally, wide receiver Lawrence Keys III appeared to injure his lower right leg during one on one drills. He stayed on the ground while a trainer tended to him, and eventually walked very slowly into the fieldhouse and did not return to action.
Linebacker Eddie Ulofoshio wore a red non-contact jersey.
