Running back J.D. McKissic has had a change of heart.
In a complete reversal from his Tuesday decision to sign with the Buffalo Bills, McKissic is in fact returning to the Washington Commanders.

The 28-year-old back initially accepted a two-year, $7 million deal from the Bills after the Commanders failed to make him an offer. After the news broke, Washington reached out in an attempt to match Buffalo's offer, per McKissic's agents, and McKissic has chosen to stay in Washington.
It's one of the few cases in which the NFL's legal tampering period worked out in Washington's favor. Because no deals can be official until 4 p.m. Wednesday, it provided the Commanders with the leeway they needed to wiggle back into McKissic's good favor.
Now Washington retains its second most valuable offensive weapon for another two years. McKissic, who's combined for 1,563 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns in 2020 and 2021, has proven to be the third-best receiving back in the league in that time, trailing only Alvin Kamara of the Saints and Austin Ekeler of the Chargers in terms of catches and receiving yards.
