Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - With the 2023 NFL Draft one day away, there are many ideas the Buffalo Bills could be looking into with the 27th pick in Round 1. Will the Bills go with a wide receiver, tight end, defensive tackle, or elsewhere?

Former Bills center, and current radio color analyst Eric Wood joined the “Extra Point Show” on Wednesday, and feels the Bills could easily grab another weapon at wide receiver, or even add some help up front with an offensive linemen.
"If there’s a guy sitting there at 27 that you think is the guy that can be 5-to-10-year starter, a Day 1 starter on the offensive line, then yeah, I’m fine with taking him,” said Wood with Sal Capaccio and Joe DiBiase.
Wood also knows that right tackle Spencer Brown did not have a true offseason in 2022, and expects him to have a bounce back season in 2023.
As for what position the Bills should be targeting with the 27th pick, Wood thinks a pass catcher, pass rusher, or pass protector is what general manager Brandon Beane should be looking to add. That's especially the case with how difficult it can often be to add in free agency or a trade.
However, the biggest glaring hole Wood feels the Bills need to address, at some point in the draft, is at middle linebacker, especially after the loss of Tremaine Edmunds in free agency.
"Unless you got a guy that can defend the pass and run at the linebacker position at 27, I don’t know that justifies the pick,” Wood said.
Wood says with how NFL offenses are changing, having a linebacker that can defend the run and pass is going to be crucial if the Bills select one in the first couple rounds.
There has also been plenty of speculation surrounding the Bills' interest in acquiring Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Wood feels if the Bills can get him on a sign-and-trade deal, where his contract would be more team friendly, it would work better.
The NFL Draft starts Thursday night in Kansas City. Coverage on WGR starts at 7 p.m. ET with Nate Geary, Joe DiBiase and Zach Jones.
