Bills sign defensive tackle Poona Ford to one-year deal

Ford had three sacks last season while with the Seahawks

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills are adding to their defensive line depth with the signing of free agent defensive tackle Poona Ford to a one-year deal. NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero was the first to break this signing.

Ford has spent his entire playing career with the Seattle Seahawks after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Texas in 2018. Over the course of his five seasons in the NFL, Ford has played in 76 games, starting 64 of them, making 181 combined tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 27 quarterback hits, 7.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

The 27-year-old put up career numbers during his 2022 campaign in 16 games played with 35 combined tackles, 22 solo tackles, six tackles for loss, seven quarterback hits and three sacks. He was part of a defense that performed admirably in Seattle, helping the Seahawks to a playoff appearance as a Wild Card team in the NFC.

Ford stands in at 6-foot and 305 pounds, and has played for an average of 59% of Seattle's defensive snaps over the last three seasons. He now joins a defensive tackles group that consists of Ed Oliver, Tim Settle, DaQuan Jones, Jordan Phillips, Eli Ankou, Brandin Bryant and Cortez Broughton.
