Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills added another piece to the quarterbacks room as the 2023 NFL league year began Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
The Bills have announced the signing of quarterback Kyle Allen to a one-year contract to back up Josh Allen. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport was the first to report the signing.
Allen has played a total of 23 games in the NFL, starting 19 of those contests for three different teams: Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders and, most recently, the Houston Texans. The most games he's played in a season was back in 2019 in Carolina, where he threw for 3,322 yards, 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 13 games and 12 starts.

This past season in Houston, the 27-year-old played and started two games, throwing for 216 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions for a 3-13-1 Texans squad.
Allen was signed as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Houston in 2018 by the Panthers.
Both Josh and Kyle Allen are familiar with one another, as they both train together in the offseason with quarterbacks coach Jordan Palmer.
