As the Golden State Warriors got ready to open the 2022-23 season on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers, Draymond Green’s punch of Jordan Poole was still all the talk as Green addressed it in his self-produced documentary, “The Countdown.”
The 21-minute doc aired on TNT and he spent five minutes addressing the altercation, which occurred during a practice earlier this month and a video of it later leaked to TMZ, prompting a fine but was no suspended for any regular season games.
Green revealed that when the video first leaked, he was unaware of just how viral and big a story it had become.
“Once I woke up to the video, I don’t know if the dynamic necessarily changes or not because you never know people’s opinions….which quite frankly I don’t care about people’s opinion’s,” Green said. “To be really honest with you, I never knew how much it blew up because I don’t spend much time searching Instagram or looking through comments. I don’t really read many tweets at all. SSo I was just at home chilling with my children. If you want me to be honest with you, I still don’t know how much the world may think it blew up.”
Perhaps the most odd thing about the video was that Green made it seem like he was some sort of victim in the whole ordeal, attacked by the media and fans as a bad teammate, but ready to take on the road to redemption.

“I was told, the world has been able to see one of your worst moments,” Green said. “Look at all the upsides you have now and it’s a totally different way of looking at it. The world has seen one of your worst moments. Look at the upside. And I can live with that.”
