College Football is coming to the Electric City. The inaugural season of Anderson University Trojan football kicks off next month and this weekend, AU is holding a dedication of the new Spero Financial Field at Melvin and Dollie Younts Stadium. I
It's a free event on Saturday, that's open to the public, starting at 10:30AM at the stadium located on Williamston Road. The Trojans will play their first college football game in Anderson University's 113 year history on September 7th.
The Trojans take on the St. Andrews Knights with a 1PM kickoff. The Trojans are a Division II team and will play in the South Atlantic Conference which comprises teams in the Carolinas, Tennessee and Virginia.
Anderson has an 11 game schedule for their inaugural season. 9 of those games will be against South Atlantic Conference opponents.
The Trojans will host LaGrange September 14th in their 2nd ever game. Those two games are part of the 6 game home slate for Anderson. Other opponents that are set to come to town include conference foes Limestone Sept. 21st, Catawba Oct. 6th, Emory and Henry Oct. 19th and Mars Hill Nov. 9th.
