(670 The Score) Star outfielder Mike Trout and the Angels are nearing a 12-year, $430-million deal, Jeff Passan of ESPN reported Tuesday morning.

Once finalized, the contract will become the largest in professional sports history.

A seven-time All-Star, Trout is universally regarded as the best player in the game. Trout won the American League MVP award in 2014 and 2016 and finished as the runner-up in 2013, 2015 and 2018. Trout has posted a .307 batting average and .990 OPS for his career and averaged 37 homers and 99 RBIs per 162 games. Trout's 64.3 WAR through his age-26 season is the most in MLB history, per ESPN.

Trout, 27, was previously set to become a free agent after the 2020 season.
