Report: Bulls To Acquire Satoransky In Sign-And-Trade

(670 The Score) The Bulls have agreed to acquire Tomas Satoransky from the Wizards in a sign-and-trade, according to multiple reports Monday morning.

A 6-foot-7 guard, Satoransky has reached a three-year, $30-million deal with Chicago, according to ESPN. The Wizards will receive the better of the Bulls' and Grizzlies' 2020 second-round picks, as Chicago owns both. The Wizards also received the right to swap 2022 second-round picks with the Bulls and had pick protections eliminated on the 2023 second-round pick that Chicago owed Washington from the Otto Porter Jr. trade last February, ESPN reported.

Satoransky was a restricted free agent, which led to the sign-and-trade, as the Wizards held leverage in the situation.

Satoransky, 27, averaged 8.9 points and 5.0 assists in 27.1 minutes across 80 games, including 54 starts, last season. He shot 48.5 percent overall and 39.5 percent on 3-pointers. Satoransky is a 40.0 percent 3-point shooter across his three NBA seasons, though on just 1.4 attempts per game.

He projects to start at point guard for the Bulls immediately, though Satoransky is comfortable playing off the ball and did so often with the Wizards. The Bulls were drawn by his size, toughness and ability to push the ball in transition. In the half court, Satoransky is dangerous enough as a spot-up shooter that the Bulls believe he can complement Zach LaVine well when LaVine plays the role of lead facilitator.

With the Satoransky signing, the Bulls have their starting five in him, LaVine, Otto Porter Jr., Lauri Markkanen and Wendell Carter Jr. Chicago used its remaining cap space to sign Satoransky and now owns the $4.7-million mid-level room exception as its final significant tool to add in free agency. The Bulls are believed to be eyeing one more wing after adding big man Thaddeus Young on Sunday and Satoransky on Monday.

Washington drafted Satoransky in the second round in 2012.
