(670 The Score) The Cubs optioned infielder David Bote to Triple-A Iowa on Monday evening.
The move was made as the return of setup man Steve Cishek looms. Cishek has been sidelined by a hip injury since Aug. 9 and is expected to be activated Tuesday, when the Cubs open a six-game homestand by hosting the Giants at Wrigley Field.
Bote is hitting .257 with 10 homers, 40 RBIs and a .781 OPS in 106 games. His demotion to Triple-A was a bit of a surprise, as he was performing well in August in his usual part-time role, hitting .400 with a 1.056 OPS in his last 14 games.
