Cubs Sign David Bote To 5-Year Extension

(670 The Score) Cubs infielder David Bote has signed a five-year extension through 2024 on a deal that also includes two club options after that, the team announced Wednesday afternoon.

Bote will have $50,000 added to his 2019 salary before the extension kicks in for 2020, USA Today reported. The team option is for $7 million in 2025 and $7.6 million in 2026.


The breakdown of the contract is as follows, according to USA Today:

2020: $950,0002021: $1 million2022: $2.5 million2023: $4 million2024: $5.5 million2025: $7-million team option, $1-million buyout2026: $7.6 million team option, $500,000 buyout

The buyout for 2025 is $1 million and is $500,000 for 2026.

Bote, 25, debuted in the big leagues in 2018, when he hit .239 with six homers, 33 RBIs and .727 OPS in 74 games. He now serves as the Cubs' primary utilityman, capable of playing all four positions in the infield.
