LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) -- The Bears intend to play their starters for one or two series in their preseason opener against the Dolphins at Soldier Field on Saturday afternoon. Then the attention will turn to rookie quarterback Justin Fields.
Bears coach Matt Nagy indicated the team will play Fields for a major portion of the first preseason game, perhaps even mixing personnel around him to help him develop a greater comfort with more teammates.
"The only way we can evaluate is by seeing him play," Nagy said. "He's got to get valuable reps."

The Bears have only three quarterbacks on their expanded roster -- starter Andy Dalton, the backup Fields and third-stringer Nick Foles. With Dalton expected to be limited to just those two series, the Bears will primarily use Fields and Foles on Saturday.
Though the Bears could showcase Foles for a potential trade, their primary focus will be on Fields.
"I want him to be able to cut it loose and play without thinking," Nagy said. "Stay within what we do and the progressions. But just kind of let your personality show on the football field.
"Now we get to truly see what we can do when the lights are on and he's playing full speed and it's live."
