Bears need to be careful shopping for wide receivers, but here's a player who could fit

(670 The Score) The Bears made a key addition as free agency negotiations opened Monday by agreeing to a three-year deal with defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi.

So what's next? The Bears still plenty of needs to fill. One of them is at wide receiver, but the Bears need to be careful in shopping at that position, Brad Biggs of the Tribune explained on the Mully & Haugh Show.

"When you look at Christian Kirk getting $72 million over four years from Jacksonville, Jacksonville ponying up $24 million over three years for Zay Jones, the market is kind of stalled right now, is how I would describe it," Biggs said. "Are they going to overpay like that for a wide receiver? I certainly don't think so. You can never say never, but that would seem to be foolish to me to really overpay in free agency for a wide receiver. Even though they're desperate at that position, you need to be smart. Because there's no celebration when you hand out an egregiously bad contract who's not going to be able to help you in the long run."

Biggs suggested 28-year-old receiver Byron Pringle could be a fit for the Bears after he played for the Chiefs for the past three seasons, a span in which new Chicago general manager Ryan Poles was an executive in the Kansas City front office.

"They ought to be able to find some guy at something that's a reasonable price that can come in and help them out," Biggs said. "Byron Pringle, Ryan Poles knows him well. He made some plays down the stretch for the Chiefs last year. What kind of market is he going to have? What will he cost? Poles is going to know him as well as anybody. What's Byron Pringle's ceiling in the mind of Ryan Poles and how does that match up with what Pringle may be seeking in terms of a contract."

Pringle had 42 catches for 568 yards and five touchdowns in 17 games in 2021.
