(670 The Score) Bears safety Jaquan Brisker was drafted by Chicago at the beginning of its rebuilding process in 2022, and he has experienced the slow march toward progress since.
After going an NFL-worst 3-14 in 2022, the Bears went 7-10 in their just-completed season and are looking to emerge as a contender in 2024. The 24-year-old Brisker is hopeful for what's to come, but he first wanted to share his gratitude to the Bears fan base for staying with his team during a difficult two years.
"I appreciate the Bears fans, for all the ups and downs, being behind us," Brisker said. "Even from the beginning even last year, 3-14, they were at every home and away game. I appreciate them this year also. We were 0-4, but we gained some momentum.
"I thank you guys for everything, for believing in us. Next year, we're heading in the right direction. You guys are going to see what we're really going to do. I appreciate everyone. Patience, but we're heading in the right direction."
Brisker had 105 combined tackles, one interception and one sack over 15 games this season. A second-round pick of the Bears in the 2022 NFL Draft, Brisker was the second player selected by general manager Ryan Poles and his regime.
After closing their season with a 17-9 loss to the Packers on Sunday, the Bears have been holding player exit interviews and meetings this week as they assess their future. The immediate question they must answer is whether head coach Matt Eberflus will return for a third season on the job.
