(670 The Score) Bears safety Jaquan Brisker has built a reputation as a hard-hitting player in the secondary who's ready to punish a ball-carrier. But he knows well that mindset has to be channeled.
Now in his second NFL season, Brisker has worked to balance his approach as he seeks to make a hit, he told the Bernstein & Holmes Show on Tuesday.
"I know I have to be smarter out there, but I don't see it as protecting myself," Brisker said. "I just feel like if I have to deliver a hit, it's going to be pretty hard. But there are going to be some times where it doesn't always have to be a kill shot.
"I'm still learning as I'm going. But in college, I used to be a wrecking ball. Especially coming from junior college, I just always knew to be a wrecking ball. But in the league, I just look at it as trying to make a big hit.
"I'm still trying to learn that everything doesn't have to be a huge hit. I'm still working on that. But at the same time, I just have to display my physicality. I want to display that every single game."
Brisker was second on the Bears with 104 combined tackles over 15 games in 2022, when he made 73 solo tackles. He also led the team with four sacks. Brisker has 19 combined tackles through three games this season.
The Bears (0-3) host the Broncos (0-3) on Sunday at Soldier Field.
