Ryan Poles, Bears believe this NFL Draft is 'going to be a little wild'
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) – As of Tuesday morning, two days before the start of the NFL Draft, all 32 NFL teams still owned their original first-round picks.
It marks the latest point in common draft history in which that has been the case, but Bears general manager Ryan Poles believes that dynamic could soon change. Poles' expectation is that this NFL Draft will feature plenty of movement and intrigue.
"I think this one's going to be a little wild," Poles said Tuesday at Halas Hall. "But we're going to be prepared for all the different scenarios that pop up.
"I think there is going to be a lot more movement than there has been in the past."
The Bears own the No. 10 overall pick. They also hold No. 39 overall and No. 41 overall in the second round.
The Bears are expected to prioritize positions such as offensive tackle and the defensive line, though Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty and Penn State tight end Tyler Warren are other fascinating prospects potentially in play for the organization.
Part of why this draft could be "wild" in Poles' mind is because it isn't considered as strong as in years past. It's also lacks premier quarterback prospects, creating added variability.
Bears assistant general manager Ian Cunningham echoed Poles' sentiments ahead of the NFL Draft, which will begin Thursday at 7 p.m. CT in Green Bay.
"It could get wild," Cunningham said. "Sit back and watch."
