(AUDACY) Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady's first season in Tampa Bay ended with him hoisting the Lombardi Trophy for the seventh time in his career, but it wasn't always smooth sailing.
There was one game in particular in which Brady was out of rhythm and had an embarrassing gaffe. It occurred late in the Buccaneers' 20-19 loss to the Bears last October, when Brady tossed an incomplete pass on a fourth-and-6 with 33 seconds remaining.
The play clinched the win for the Bears, but Brady sure didn't seem to know that. He stood on the field perplexed, holding up four fingers and thinking he had another down left.
He didn't. And in the aftermath, the 43-year-old Brady refused to give a straight answer on the incident all year — until now. Brady, who's apparently on TikTok, was recently reliving some highlights (and lowlights) of his 2020 season and finally came clean about not knowing what down it was on that final play against the Bears.
"I don't think I've ever been confused as I am in this moment right here," Brady said.
The moment, naturally, went viral and Brady was roasted by fans everywhere. Of course, it's always easier to look back and laugh at the gaffes when you come out of the season a champion yet again.
