(670 The Score) The Blackhawks stayed in the family in using their second-round pick in the NHL Draft on Saturday.
Chicago selected 18-year-old forward Colton Dach with the No. 62 overall pick. Colton is the younger brother of Blackhawks center Kirby, a cornerstone piece of the organization whom Chicago selected at No. 3 overall in the 2019 draft.
The 6-foot-4, 196-pound Colton plays for the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League. He had 20 points (11 goals, nine assists) in 20 games in the 2020-'21 season.
Kirby wished Colton the best in a video ahead of the start of the draft.
Colton was rated as the 61st-best prospect in the draft by TSN.
The Blackhawks didn't own a third-round pick entering Saturday but made a trade to acquire one. Chicago sent Carolina a third-round pick in 2022 to land the No. 91 overall selection, which the Blackhawks used on 19-year-old defenseman Taige Harding, a 6-foot-7, 236-pounder from Great Britain who has committed to Providence College.
In the fourth round, the Blackhawks selected 18-year-old defenseman Ethan Del Mastro at No. 105 overall. He plays for the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League. Three picks later, Chicago nabbed 18-year-old Swedish center Victor Stjernborg at No. 108 overall.
In the sixth round, Chicago took 20-year-old Russian center Ilya Safonov at No. 172 overall.
In the seventh round, the Blackhawks selected 19-year-old defenseman Connor Kelley at No. 204 overall. He was a freshman at Minnesota-Duluth last season. The Blackhawks concluded their draft by adding 19-year-old forward Jalen Luypen at No. 216 overall. He played for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League last season, when he had 29 points (16 goals, 13 assists) in 23 games.
After trading back in the first round Friday, Chicago selected defenseman Nolan Allan, who plays for the Prince Albert Raiders in the Western Hockey League.
