(670 The Score) Veteran broadcaster Beth Mowins is set to become the first woman ever to serve as the play-by-play voice for a Cubs regular-season game, as she'll be on the call for the Marquee Sports Network on Saturday and Sunday when Chicago hosts Pittsburgh at Wrigley Field.
"I'm thrilled to get to Wrigley Field this weekend and call Cubs games," Mowins said in a statement. "Cubs fans bring a special energy to the park, and I look forward to taking it all in this weekend."
Mowins has been a broadcaster for ESPN since 1994 and has a wide array of experience across many sports. In 2017, she became the first woman in 30 years to call an NFL game. Mowins will fill in for usual play-by-play voice Jon "Boog" Sciambi and work alongside color analyst Jim Deshaies.
"We couldn't be more excited to have Beth in the booth this weekend," Marquee Sports Network general manager Mike McCarthy said in a statement. "Her experience and professionalism is unmatched, and we're fortunate to have her calling Cubs games this season."
