(670 The Score) Out since last July with an injury to his throwing shoulder, Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks will make a rehab start for Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, sources told 670 The Score reporter Bruce Levine.
Hendricks is flying to Iowa on Tuesday in preparation for his start Thursday, which will mark his first competitive action since last July 5. Hendricks has suffered from a capsular tear in his right shoulder. He most recently threw a simulated three-inning game in Arizona on Saturday and has continued to progress well.
If all goes to plan, Hendricks should be set to rejoin the Cubs by mid-May, Levine reported.
Hendricks, 33, was 4-6 with a 4.80 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 16 starts in 2022. He has a 3.46 ERA for the Cubs across nine MLB seasons.
