Cubs Place Kris Bryant On 10-Day Injured List

(670 The Score) The Cubs have placed third baseman Kris Bryant on the 10-day injured list with a left ring finger sprain, they announced Saturday. The move is retroactive to Wednesday.

Bryant has been hampered by hand, wrist and finger ailments since he was hurt while diving for a ball while playing left field in a game on Aug. 12. Bryant sat out two games after that and then returned to the lineup. He hasn't played since Monday.

When Bryant has played, he has struggled for almost the entire season. He's hitting .177 with two homers, four RBIs and a .594 OPS in 16 games.

"As much as we don't talk about those things, I've seen too many great players not have great years because they're dealing with small issues," Cubs manager David Ross said earlier in the week. "Those things tend to linger. You create bad habits really fast trying to make up for something that might be bothering you or that's giving you a little bit of pause in your approach or your play. I just don't want that for my guys. I'd rather take some time, get 100% healthy, make sure they're in a good head space with no hesitation and be able to go out there and play freely."
