David Ross signs extension with Cubs through 2024, with a club option for 2025

(670 The Score) Cubs manager David Ross has signed a contract extension with the club through the 2024 season, the team announced Friday. The deal also includes a club option for the 2025 season.

Financial terms of the contract weren't immediately reported.

Ross had originally been under contract through the 2022 season, which is set to now get going after the MLB lockout ended Thursday. Ross led the Cubs to a 34-26 record and National League Central crown in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, when he finished third in the NL Manager of the Year race. Chicago then went 71-91 and missed the playoffs in 2021. Ross is 105-117 (.473) across two seasons.

Ross was named the 55th manager in Cubs history in October 2019, taking over after the team parted ways with Joe Maddon following that season.
