(AUDACY) Nothing brings a community together quite like a good old-fashioned beer snake. On Sunday evening, the series finale between the Cubs and Cardinals wasn't a particularly high-scoring affair as Chicago earned a 2-0 victory in a game that featured just six combined hits, but it seems fans were just thankful to be back in the building, throwing back cold ones and fostering creativity with this impromptu art installation in center field.
In the background, you can hear ESPN broadcaster Matt Vasgersian doing an impression (no doubt influenced by Will Ferrell) of late Cubs announcer Harry Caray.
With historic Wrigley Field finally back operating at full capacity -- an occasion the Cubs celebrated by summoning comedy veteran Bill Murray to sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" Friday afternoon -- fans have come flooding in, with 35,225 in attendance for the pitcher's duel between Zach Davies and Carlos Martinez on Sunday.
It would appear that beer snake season is officially in session as beer-consuming spectators in Minnesota constructed a similarly elaborate display at Target Field on Sunday, which for Twins fans was the only good to come from a lopsided 14-3 defeat at the hands of the visiting Houston Astros.
