With the Royals trading outfielder Andrew Benintendi to the Yankees on Wednesday night, the Braves will have to look elsewhere as they target outfield help before the trade deadline next Tuesday.
With that in mind, could Cubs switch-hitting outfielder Ian Happ make sense for them? Happ, 27, was recently an All-Star for the first time, and he's hitting .282 with an .811 OPS entering play Thursday. He also is under club control through 2023, so he's more than a rental player for a few months. On Thursday, 92.9 The Game hosts Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael debated whether Happ would be a fit for the Braves and what they might have to give up to get him. Take a listen below.
Bunker and McMichael floated Braves right-hander Ian Anderson as a trade possibility. He has struggled with a 5.31 ERA this season but has flashed plenty of promise in past years and is under team control through 2026. The hosts also mentioned Braves pitching prospects Kyle Muller and Tucker Davidson as potential trade chips.
Muller is the Braves' top-ranked prospect and has compiled a 5.49 ERA in 39 1/3 innings across two MLB seasons. Davidson had a 6.46 ERA in four appearances for the Braves earlier this season. He is the No. 5 prospect in Atlanta's system, according to MLB Pipeline.
