(670 The Score) Speculation continues to grow that the White Sox will soon promote assistant general manager Chris Getz to be their new top baseball executive.
If that's the case, it wouldn't be nearly enough in the mind of former White Sox manager and current NBC Sports Chicago analyst Ozzie Guillen.
"Listen, they need more than Chris Getz," Guillen said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Wednesday morning. "I'll just tell you right now, they need more than that."
Guillen had plenty more to share.
"He's a good baseball man," Guillen said. "Right now, I don't know exactly, because I don't see him with any experience about – being general manager is one thing, then making deals and offering people money (is different).
"If somebody knows this organization well for the last five years, it's Chris Getz … Is he prepared for the job? We have to wait and see. Because right now, everybody is asking the same question I ask – it's second-guessing.
If they're going to keep Chris Getz, why didn't they keep Rick Hahn? There are so many questions out there that Jerry (Reinsdorf) needs to answer.
"I hope he understands how hard it's going to be, how tough the job is going to be. Because they're not in a good situation, even down in the minor leagues all the way to the big league level."
Getz, 39, has held his assistant general manager/player development title since 2021. Prior to that, he was the White Sox's director of player development from 2017-'20. He worked in the Royals' front office before that.
In Getz's tenure, the White Sox have often had one of MLB's lowest-rated farm systems, save for the occasions in which they traded established big league talent for highly rated prospects from other organizations. They currently have three of the top 100 prospects in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.
