(670 The Score) Veteran catcher Jonathan Lucroy has agreed to a deal to join the White Sox, Robert Murray of FanSided reported Thursday. It's a minor league deal, according to reports.
Lucroy, 34, is an 11-year veteran who spent time with the Red Sox and Phillies in 2020 but didn't log a plate appearance. Lucroy split 2019 between the Angels and Cubs, hitting a combined .232 with a .660 OPS in 101 games that season. Lucroy was an All-Star in 2014 and 2016 who has hit .274 with a .751 OPS for his career.
The White Sox had been looking to add a veteran catcher to the mix after James McCann signed with the Mets. Yasmani Grandal will be the White Sox's starting catcher, while Zack Collins, who turns 26 on Saturday, is expected to be in the backup mix.
