(670 The Score) White Sox star first baseman Jose Abreu will miss the next three games with an ankle injury, James Fegan of the Athletic reported Monday afternoon.
Abreu will miss the White Sox's entire three-game series against the Twins, which begins Monday evening. He has ankle inflammation, an ailment that he suffered on a furious slide into home plate in which he scored the game-winning run in the ninth inning of Chicago's victory against Kansas City on Sunday. X-rays on Abreu's ankle were negative, Fegan reported.
The White Sox are hopeful that Abreu can return to action when they visit the Yankees on Friday. Chicago has an off day Thursday.
The reigning American League MVP, Abreu is hitting .255 with eight homers, 33 RBIs and an .827 OPS in 38 games.
