Governor Ralph Northam announced Virginia will have a mandatory mask policy starting this Friday. The requirement will be for inside businesses, and there will be exceptions made for eating, and for health reasons. Masks had been recommended up until this point.
Northam says the Virginia Department of Health, not law enforcement, will be enforcing the policy. There will be no fines. The policy does not cover anyone 10 years or younger.
Northam also took full responsibility for not wearing a mask on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk this past weekend.
The Governor also plans, later this week, to speak about Richmond's request for a partial reopening.
